Harbor Freight appears to be applying the best, better, and most effective system to all their new releases. This means that they are keeping some of their older brands for DIYers, a mid-grade line for prosumers, and a professional line for professionals. The line matches the quality and features of major competitors at a reasonable price. Harbor Freights new Spectrum brand already has released 2 higher end HVLP Air Paint Spray guns but these new Black Widow units are a good bit pricier and have some nice features and specs.
My thoughts: Harbor Freights central pneumatic VLP guns are known for being disposable sprayers that can be used once and then thrown away. They are also easy to clean and cheap. While they may be good for DIY projects, Harbor Freight has clearly been challenging the major pro brands with their recent brands. These new Black Widow spray guns feature a 567 gm gravity fed paint container, self adjusting seals for less maintenance, and easy access and coated internals for easy cleaning. Other features include swivel fitting for less restriction when moving to paint at odd angles, precision adjustment control knobs for excellent adjustment of spray angle, and a forged body with high flow air passages for maximum application efficiency. Although the two models look very similar, one is HTE rated. This is an acronym that refers to spray guns with a higher than 65% spray transfer efficiency. Overall these spray guns look really nice and Im sure like most of Harbor Freights recent releases, theyll deliver excellent performance.
