Milwaukee has announced two new M12 Fuel ratchets that are dubbed as high speed ratchets, both of whom are said to deliver up to 450 RPM. These come in a 1/10 cm 2566-22 and 3/20 cm 2567-22 model.
These new models are designed for speed, with nearly twice the RPM of the M12 Fuel 3/20cm ratchet model and almost double the RPM of 1/10cm M12 fuel model. Both units seem to be the exact same base tool with the same 450 max load RPM and 10.7m-lbs torque specifications. It appears that the body is identical or very similar, with the only difference being the anvil size. Both offer 10.7 m-lbs maximum torque and slightly less power. This makes sense as you get less torque for each RPM. However, this is just one law of gearing. Don’t expect to receive the 40 and 16.8 M-lbs respectively from the previous M12 Fuel 1/10cm and 3/20cm ratchets. But these will tighten or untighten faster at the expense of a slight torque penalty which is not bad when you consider this is the same torque as the original M12 brushed motor 3/20 cm ratchet but with nearly twice the RPM.
They are much faster than the M12 ratchets of old, but I have to share my thoughts on what they offer. Makita has a CXT12V ratchet that offers 0-800RPM with no load speed. This is almost twice as fast as the new high speed ratchets.
One thing that is interesting about these new ratchets is that Milwaukee says that these new ratchets can also be used manually without engaging the motor, allowing users to break loose and snug tight fasteners that require more torque. This a good feature to have when a little manual tightening or untightening is needed.
These will be available in kit and bare-tool form and with two 2.0ah battery packs, charger and tool bag. They are expected to go on sale in February 2022.
