Milwaukee just announced three new M18 Fuel wet/dry vacuums with a 27 Liters, 41 Liters, and 55 Liters models! Not just that but they are said to be as strong as corded vacuums and are designed to outperform 3.5 HP vacuums on the market according to Milwaukee!
I want to start off by saying that while you can get these as individual wet/dry vacuums, they are more of a system. What I mean by that is that they are an interchangeable system where the motor head can be swapped out as there are more than one motor heads, there is a total of three.
The two motor heads shown above have the single battery head on their left. Milwaukee claims that this vacuum outperforms the 3.5 peak HP vacuums. This head comes standard on the M18 Fuel 27 Liters wet/dry vacuum. On the right you see the dual battery head which uses and requires two M18 batteries to operate and is said to outperform 4.25 peak HP vacuums. This head comes standard on the 41 Liters and 55 Liters models. Milwaukee claims that they can outperform vacuums with certain peak horsepower, but does not specify how much CFM suction. Ryobi, a sister brand, just announced a 40V 45 Litres wet/dry vacuum with 80 CFM rating. This vacuum has slightly less suction than the Ridgid NXT 4.25HP vacuum. Its interesting to note that the dual battery head requires two batteries meaning it cant operate on one battery. To produce 80 CFM of suction, you don’t need to use more than 18 volts. Ryobi can do this with their 27 Liters 18-volt vacuum perfectly. However, Milwaukee insists that users have two M18 batteries in order to ensure that the runtime doesn’t get cut. Milwaukee states that the dual battery head can run for up to 34 minutes in continuous cleaning mode (up to 1,182.9m), and 49 minutes (upto 1,243.8m) when it is set to max run-time mode. This is with two 12ah batteries. I think they should have made the dual battery head capable of running on only one battery but still give it dual battery bays so the user has the option to use one or two batteries, with two for extended runtime but they probably didnt as uninformed users may complain about battery life on a single battery on the more powerful motor head of the two.
I’ve only discussed two of the three motor heads. The picture above shows the AC motor head, which is rated at 6.5 peak HP. According to OhioPowerTool, this head is rated at 145 CFM and 224 cm suction. This is the motor head to get if you need maximum power and runtime on your Milwaukee wet/dry vacuums although at it aint cheap and thats just for the motor head unit itself, as you still need the tank container and a hose to complete the vacuum or you can pick up a complete standalone corded 6.5 peak HP vacuum for as low as Of course the benefit of the Milwaukee 6.5 peak HP motor head unit is that its fully compatible with Milwaukees 6, 9, and 55 Liters vacs so you can swap heads to your contentment. Although a 6.5 HP option would be great, it is unlikely that they will offer one that runs on batteries alone. However, larger batteries are likely to be needed in order to achieve the desired runtime.
Below is an image showing the swappable tank containers. They come in sizes 6, 9, and 55 Liters. They come bundled in the vacuum kits and you can also purchase them separately as tank containers only at and respectively which also makes them more dinero than similar sized standalone corded vacs.
As part of the system are carts that the vacuum units rest on and have wheels to make them mobile. There are two types of carts: the standard cart has four 360 degree castors at each corner and comes with the 6 and 41 Liters models. The premium cart has two large rear wheels and two smaller 360 degrees castors. It also has a telescoping handle that allows you to push the vacuums from a standing position. The 55 Liter vacuum is included in the premium cart. Both carts have onboard storage in the rear for accessories.
The hose is also not one but comes in two flavors. The standard 6 and 41 Liters models come with a 1-7/20 cmx23cm hose. There is also a 2-liter version.
The greatest benefit of the new vacuums is their ability to mix and match motor heads with tanks to achieve different sizes and performance. For example, you wouldn’t need a 55 Liter vacuum in a small bathroom. Or you would not want less power for larger jobs.

Milwaukee new AIR-TIP vacuum accessories.
Milwaukee Tool created 19 innovative AIR TIP Trade Focused Vacuum Accessories to address user needs. They are compatible with all other wet/dry vacuum brands. Milwaukee Tool is setting a new standard in products that were once considered a commodity. Milwaukee Tool’s new range of vacuum accessories features new designs and improvements to old options. They also integrate cordless technology into the accessory line to maximize efficiency during the workday. These improvements will help users clean faster, reach places they have not been able to reach before, and upgrade the overall jobsite cleanup experience.
As part of the new M18 Fuel wet/dry vacuum announcement, they also announced a new line of vacuum attachment accessories with 19 of them with the name AIR-TIP. Milwaukee claims they have improved on older vacuum accessory options and there are now 19 of them. Milwaukee has created an M12-AIR-TIP utility tool nozzle, which incorporates a spinning brush that is powered by an M12 battery. Milwaukee claims it can pick up more debris than standard vac attachment nozzles.
The M12 AIR TIP utility nozzle is the most notable accessory. It is also the only one with its own motor. However, the other accessories offer many options and can be used to make a variety of nozzles and brushes. They are also available in Milwaukee red and appear well-built.
